Meanwhile, the Terminator and the unknown man eventually locate John Connor. The "police officer" is revealed to be a machine trying to kill John; the Terminator protects John and explains what is happening.

He is a Cyberdyne Systems Model , reprogrammed by the future John Connor to act as his protector in this time.

The other Terminator is a T , an advanced prototype, which was sent back by Skynet to kill John while he's still a child, due to the the original T failing in its mission.

The T is made of "a Mimetic polyalloy ", essentially liquid metal that looks like the element Mercury, allowing it to imitate almost anyone or anything of equal size.

In its systematic process to locate John, the T murders John's foster parents, Todd and Janelle Voight after imitating Janelle herself.

Meanwhile, as the T sticks to the road with John to evade the T's pursuit, John discovers that the T is programmed to follow his every command.

However, when John decides to use this to get payback on a verbally-abusive stranger they encounter, the T almost murders the man before John stops him.

This prompts John to, realising the responsibility of commanding a machine designed to terminate, handle his command over the Terminator more wisely, and to order the T not to kill any humans.

When the T tells John that the T will likely mimic Sarah and then kill her, he and the Terminator go to rescue her. At Pescadero, Sarah has escaped from her prison cell and beats Douglas a corrupt, patient-abusing member of Dr Silberman's staff unconscious with a broom handle.

Next, she knocks out another staff member, breaks Peter Silberman 's arm and takes him hostage, holding him with a syringe full of a poisonous industrial grade liquid drain cleaner.

She uses him to force the other staff to release her by opening all the security doors. However, on the opposite corridor, another staff member sneaks behind Sarah's back, grabs her hand holding the syringe to Dr Silberman's neck and releases Dr Silberman.

She knocks that staff member down and runs down the corridor through a double lock security checkpoint, breaking off the key in the second barred door, which forces the pursuing staff to double back and around the other way.

She then makes her way to the elevators. When the elevator door finally opens, the T walks out. Initially, Sarah is terrified by the sight of the same Terminator that had attempted to kill her and runs back, but the staff trip her up and attempt to restrain her while she struggles.

Just before Dr Silberman can sedate Sarah, the T interferes by knocking out the various staff members holding Sarah down. Dr Silberman is left unharmed and stares in stunned silence, while the Terminator reaches down and states "Come with me if you want to live" followed by John who has to shake Sarah out of her shock.

Dr Silberman is then even more stunned as he sees the T walk throught the barred security gate Sarah had previously broken the key off in. Sarah watches the Terminator fight off the T while she and John make a run for the elevator.

The T injures Sarah during the elevator shoot out then continues to chases them out of the facility and down the highway on foot but fails to keep up with them.

Later, while the trio are hiding out in an auto repair garage in a deleted scene , Sarah removes the bullets left lodged in the T's skin sheath during the skirmish.

At John's suggestion, he and Sarah remove the T's CPU so that it will reset to 'read and write' and improve the T's intellectual usefulness.

Upon the chip's removal, Sarah, still mistrusting of the machine, sees an opportunity to render the terminator completely inert by destroying the chip, but John stops her at the last second, telling her they need it's help.

Sarah is reluctant, but listens to John when he tells her that he'll one day be a powerful leader and that his decisions will one day be important.

She agrees not to destroy the chip, and the terminator is reactivated. As the trio flee south from the city, the Terminator tells Sarah about the future of Skynet as the sentient computer that will destroy humans.

He tells her about its creator, Miles Bennett Dyson Joe Morton , who designs a learning computer that is entrusted with command of all military force.

When Skynet becomes "self-aware" and its terrified controllers attempt to shut it down, Skynet retaliates by launching a nuclear attack against it's targets in Russia knowing the Russian counter attack will eliminate it's enemies in the US, an event referred to by the survivors as " Judgment Day ".

Eventually, Sarah, John, and the Terminator arrive in the desert at the camp of Enrique Salceda, who has preserved an underground weapons cache in the event that the war actually happens.

Sarah plans to take John and flee over the border into Mexico. During the time at this camp, the T begins to show increasingly advanced and humanised intelligence and behaviour as it learns, and John bonds more closely with the Terminator.

While watching John teach the Terminator a game, Sarah reflects on the fact that the T makes a good father-figure for John; being a machine, the Terminator would never be abusive or abandon him, and would unreservedly let itself be destroyed while protecting him.

In turn, John teaches the T to be more human. Sarah falls asleep and suffers her recurring nightmare where she sees herself playing with children on a playground.

A nuclear bomb suddenly explodes in the distance and Sarah, her double and all the children die in the intense heat of the explosion of the nuclear bomb.

Sarah now believes that by assassinating Dyson, she can change the future to prevent Skynet from being invented, derailing Judgment Day and the war with the machines.

After she leaves, John and the Terminator find the message she'd left on the table and quickly figure out what she is going to do and drive after her.

At Dyson's home, Sarah tries to kill Dyson with an M4 carbine but misses when Dyson's son distracts him from his computer monitor.

Sarah is unable to hit her target and enters Dyson's home. Following the Normandy Landings, a group of U. The lives of guards on Death Row are affected by one of their charges: While Frodo and Sam edge closer to Mordor with the help of the shifty Gollum, the divided fellowship makes a stand against Sauron's new ally, Saruman, and his hordes of Isengard.

John Connor, the future leader of the human resistance, is now a healthy young boy. However another Terminator is sent back through time called the T, which is more advanced and more powerful than its predecessor.

However, Sarah and John do not have to face this threat of a Terminator alone. Another Terminator is also sent back through time. The battle for tomorrow has begun Written by Eric ggg.

If you are a viewer that mainly prefers arthouse-type movies, then you might as well ignore this review. In addition, if you're not able to take a few sci-fi leaps of faith, ignore this review, as well.

We'll both be better off. This is the finest action movie of all time. And, yet, believe it or not, it's not the action in the film itself that makes this be the case.

This movie is what it is, a perfect 10, because it takes the vision of one of the most imaginative directors on Earth, and realizes them almost perfectly with all the tools that fit the task -- actors, stunts, puppetry, models, and CG.

Without the vision, this film would be nothing. Without the tools, this film would be nothing.

But, a little bit of background is due. This is the sequel to the Terminator , whose premise was that a near-indestructible cyborg is sent by evil self-aware machines from the near future to destroy the mother-to-be of the military commander who would lead the humans to a victory over the machines.

Oh, and this terminator machine would come from a time of war between men and machines which followed a nuclear exchange that left billions of people dead, first.

In Terminator 2, John Connor the commander-to-be is about 12 years old, and his mother Sarah is feverishly trying to prepare him for his fate, even as she tries to stop the factors that will lead to the nuclear war and the entire terrible future that made all this necessary.

The machines now send a superior, more intelligent, shape-shifting cyborg T into the past, to kill John himself. That's your basic plot. It does involve travel into the past, so it immediately presents a time-travel paradox which can't really be resolved.

If you don't, this movie has zero credibility, and is not worth your time. What happens after the two terminators appear in the past is a wild ride rife with macho action, dark reflection on the nature of man, and a few rays of hope, here and there.

Schwarzenegger the good terminator and Patrick the bad one make for such effective foes that the times they meet on-screen are completely breathtaking and odd, given that you repeatedly see the relatively slim T through Arnie through a wall or two.

Hamilton, as Sarah Connor, is a wonderful character -- tough beyond all belief and completely focussed on preventing the nuclear war and ensuring John's safety, yet clearly a little out of her mind with paranoia and anger; amazingly, you see actual character development specifically, when John and T arrive at Dyson's house to prevent her from doing what she wants to in her otherwise 2-dimensional character.

And Furlong, as John, is not bad himself as the extroverted kid who's confused by the fact that everyone except his mom tell him his entire upbringing was based on a lie.

The bit players all do their jobs well, particularly Earl Boen who plays the semi-sadistic mental hospital warden that stands between Sarah Connor and her son until the T makes a chilling entrance.

With these players set in motion, it's up to the script to deliver the real substance of the movie. One often sees great performances in mediocre films The film is absolutely filled with great, classic moments I counted TEN all-star ones during my last viewing , and they're evenly spaced through the movie.

I mean, who doesn't cheer at least inside when Arnold steps out of the biker bar, fully clad in leather when "Bad to the Bone" music starts to blast?

The guy absolutely bleeds coolness. And the T absolutely bleeds evil. But, with so many great moments, you'd think the pacing would be a little uneven The film shifts from place to place with an ease that makes perfect sense, never giving you the time to start being a little nitpicking jerk, always driving forward, but always doing so thoughtfully and with attention to detail.

Of course, this wouldn't be an action movie without some action. There's plenty of it, and it's perfectly done. The CG effects for the shape-shifting T were cutting-edge for the time, and still look great whoever said differently below is simply incorrect -- even if they're completely commonplace today.

The stunts are completely insane in scale at one point, a helicopter flies under a highway overpass; at another, a motorcycle jumps from the 2nd floor of a building into a flying chopper.

Probably, only the Matrix and the Lord of the Rings movies compare in terms of the level of stunt insanity.

And the gunplay is delivered in perfect Cameron-Schwarzenegger style as opposed to the slo-mo John Woo-style -- you'll see lots of heavy automatic and explosive weapons, and you'll see them used well.

The film is violent, and somewhat bloody, but ALL of the mean-spirited violence is dealt by the evil characters, not the ones you root for Quentin Tarantino fans: And then the truly amazing scenes that bypass acting are shocking and memorable -- just wait until the nuclear detonation sequence.

I'm not sure what else you would want in a movie. Probably moral content, and the movie has a very clear pro-human, anti-war message.

The message is a bit stale, and the delivery IS, at times, a little heavy-handed and some moments with the T seem just a bit unrealistic, towards the end , but the movie has heart, and that you cannot deny.

Plus, it simply rocks. Enjoy a night in with these popular movies available to stream now with Prime Video.

When John and the Terminator arrive, they inform Dyson of the consequences of his research, and prove it to be true by having the T cut the flesh from his arm to reveal the cybernetic endo-arm underneath.

As the team and Dyson exchange stories concerning Dyson's Skynet project, the Connors and the T discover that the endo-arm and chipped CPU of the previous T survived the hydraulic press Sarah had used to destroy it, and were secretly recovered by Cyberdyne and are the source of Dyson's Skynet microprocessor research; just as Kyle Reese 's presence in the past brought about John Connor's existence, the original T's has brought about Skynet's.

When Dyson says he'll discontinue his research and quit Cyberdyne the next day, Sarah and the Terminator convince him that they must destroy everything related to his chip design, including the T pieces immediately, so that no-one can follow his work and take his place as Skynet's creator.
